Water pump wanted

Hey there Guys,

You all did a fantastic job helping me find a Lister d type engine for my Nephew`s birthday, - he now sits in the garden with a strip of oil`y rag and a cup of tea just "watching it run".... We went to Thurlow over the weekend - (he was actually working there) and he has decided he wants to make it "run" something. We saw some great Lister water pumps, think they were a domestic, and a larger twin piston model. He wants to make a re-cycling pump set - so the question again is: Anyone have or know of a working pump for sale at a reasonable price - preferably in the Essex area. Done the usual "e-bay, Adtrader, Google" but nothing suitable. His funds are limited, but his enthusiasm is limitless, he even invited his mates over for a BBQ on his birthday and they all sat around the engine...dont see that with many 16 year olds today. Be the flat cap and neck scarf next..

Many thanks again.

Alex

As you have probably gathered from the lack of response, decent pumps are probably harder to come by than engines! I guess those currently on ebay are too expensive? The best value one at the moment comes with a free Douglas engine ;-)

Your best bets are rallies with a good junk stall content and sales like the sodbury sort-out (towards end of October?).

Glad the engine was well received - are you able to reveal which line of enquiry eventually paid off?

Hey Nick, Thanks for your reply, We eventually bought an engine from an advert in ADtrader, it was a Lister d - dont know the history or year but it has a plate with serial number. It came from a place near Oxford, very good condition, on a trolly, running well for £65.

Will keep an eye out for a pump - have seen a few for sale, but all with bits missing, etc...

Alex, The bits missing is the fun part, getting it going again with limited resourses etc :-))
