Sorry, need a substantial deposit first - have been caught out on this before. Will use that money for a deal with some Nigerians which will reduce the overall cost to you.

Cheers, Simon

Talking of model railway bridges I have yet to see a layout with the 'Hornby Grand Suspension Bridge'. At 1.4 m long it is a little large even with the maximum gradients each side.

My layout is a tailchaser that crosses over itself so goes round the room twice, the maximum gradient is 1:40 and a good loco (the Bachmann Deltic or 9f, or Hornby loco drive A3 or A4) can just about draw a full rake of 14 coaches up that, admittedly with 4' radius curves leading to the bottom of the slope in either direction.

I have a viaduct as the movable section across the door, it's longer than the Hornby bridge. The station it leads into will have platforms

15' long when finished.

Just zis Guy, you know?

I have used one on the outside run I have for the Hornby live steamer. It is fixed to a plank and the assembly forms a removable section across a path. Ironically as the jesting about buying bridges started I had just purchased a couple on Ebay, an extension to the garden loop will take it across the end of the pond . This will need to stay in stay in position and be about 8ft in lengh. Not being sure how the various plastic bridges would stand up to outside elements so looked around for something more substantial . Found that Marklin Bridges used to be metal till the 70's so have found a couple of those. Need to find a few more yet but it's not an urgent project. Will make piers out of domestic waste pipe, probably plastic but might find that

28mm copper would be okay. The metal bridges I will paint with suitable coatings. The finished effect should look like a long bridge on metal piers similar to ones like the Severn rail Bridge .

suppose i could be flash and have a swinging section across the path at the end .

I suspect the main drawback to using plastic models outside is their UV stabilisation !

I have this picture in my mind of Guy's rake of 14 coaches plus loco plunging into the pond :-(.
