The class 90 in IC swallow livery has a certain elegance. For units I'd suggest the class 373,

The Class 89 could win awards at both ends of the spectrum!

Favourite Electric would be the Class 92 for me.

Cheers,

Rob.

bound to get piloried here but I always like the 74s... troublesome they may have been but they had a presence about them - moreso than the 71 which seemed to bland at the front - the messy jumpers added a certain something - same with 33s, I always preferred the 33/1 to the other two sub-classes.

76 has to be a fave as well, bless 'em. Two up on the "Pennine Rose" with 11 on... phenominal acceleration - really *REALLY* impressive.. upto 65 mph anyway :o) just about the fastest uptake I ever experienced, much faster than a 50 or 87 with similar load!

Yep agreed again!

I only saw one class 71, came down the wtlo line at Havant and went back up within a few mins. Don't know to this day what it was up to? I was staring out of the window at school (again, ouch board rubber on head) when I saw it. But, I happened upon the class 74 farewell day at Eastleigh.

yeah.. missed that one (dammit, dammit)

shame the preservation movement really got going too late for them - they were prime targets for keeping just one... the electronic problems were well understood by the time withdrawal came and would be well documnted to allow a preverved example to be kept running and maybe even bettered with the improvements in computer control. When I look at all the 73s in preservation, I am a little sad that not a single 74 made it. It's always a pity when an entire class trundles off into the sunset... the A1A-A1A warships - I really thought that considering how long it had lasted at Barry, D600 Active (the only example to get Blue livery?) might have been saved. *sniff*
