Error corrected; sorry! :-)
John.
The signal is lower quadrant - does this suggest a Western Region location, such as Gloucester or Bristol?

The houses on the escarpment in the background remind me of Bristol. Somewhere near Temple Meads maybe. It's not Gloucester.
Tony B.
The run in to Bristol was of course via Mangotsfield, not the current route via Bristol Parkway and Filton.

100% not Bordesley Jc - everything is wrong! From the absence of the Camp Hill line overbridge behind the train, through the stone underbridge which isn't typical Brum, right down to the conspicuous absence of Birmingham on the skyline ;-)John.
No sign of any NE-SW trains calling at Stapleton Road in the Summer 1963 timetable. But at least in 1963 and 1964 there was a Nottingham - Bournemouth West and return Summer Saturday train which ran non-stop from Gloucester Eastgate to Stapleton Road, and then via Bath, Westbury, Salisbury and Verwood - the lengths they went to to avoid using the Somerset and Dorset.

Perhaps Engine Shed Junction - leaving Gloucester northbound?
Minor error, that's either 45589 or *Ajax*.

i'd say you were spot one. i reckon the church on the hill in the background is St Annes, while the trees on the left are Nethan park.
