St Ives (Cambs) to Ely line video/DVD?

Nov 09, 2003 4 Replies

Is there such a thing available, can anyone here say? If so, who publishes it, please?

I have trawled the model railway exhibitions and also a specialist transport publications shop in London looking for one without success so far.

TIA.

Sounds unlikely. I believe the line closed in the 1950s when there was very little amateur cine activity so, unless it was filmed prodessionally for some reason, there is probably nothing around to make a video from..

OK. Thanks anyway.

Closed to passengers 2.Feb.1931. Bluntisham-Sutton closed 6.Oct.1958, Sutton-Ely closed 13.July.1964, St Ives-Bluntisham closed 5.Oct.1964.

I believe there's a book on the line by Peter Paye. I don't have a copy, but there were a couple of copies listed on abebooks.co.uk last time I looked.

I have the book, thanks, it's a video I'd really like to locate if one exists!

There were several excursions from Sutton to the coast after the passenger service was withdrawn and I am in the right place to enquire whether any photos were taken along the way.
