Disturbed would be the word I would use. Not irritated but, disturbed!

You're simply envious because we have both willies and a flag we're proud enough of to wave!

As I recall it was when AMF owned Harley Davidson that the quality was so poor, they were built better both before and after AMF. Guess AMF thought a HD motor cycle should be no more reliable than their pinsetters.

designs, such

So I have heard, but they do not sound the same. To sound the same you have to have v twin cylinders on a single crankpin. No matter if you played with the valve timing or not, the engine still has to go bang bang skip skip.

If I wanted something that sounds like a John Deere "B", I'd drive a John Deere "B". :)

I guess I just don't "get" the whole H-D "sound" thing. I don't like the "big and bad" H-D sound. I think it's rude and obnoxious.

What's a chest rug? mk

How can a motorcycle sound rude and obnoxious? It can sound big and bad because they are large and are powerfull. But rude and obnoxious is too emotional. Sounds like you get upset because of your envy. I don't care for motorcycles, but stock Harlies are certainly not too loud, and I can appreciate the sould of a lumpy idle from a high performance cam and the imbalanced firing order.

Is there such a thing? :-) I know, some people leave their pipes alone, but many, perhaps most, don't.

You're kidding? What do you call it when you can't hear the radio or carry on a conversation with my passenger because somebody with more money than brains pulls up next to the car on a Harly with striaght pipes?

I call it rude and obnoxious.

I'd rather hear a Harley than one of those automotive boom boxes going full blast.

Vroom-Vroom-blap-blap-blap!!!

Don't change the subject, we were talking about HD motorcycles as made by HD. They are not particularly loud. Now you are bringing illegally modified motorcycles. Yes illegal, it may not be well inforced in your area but in most states running straight pipes are illegal. Bet most of those V twins don't even have HD engines. Most HD motorcycles I have seen are completly legal and are not that noisy except maybe the idle.

Besides the last post I made, the motorcycle is not rude and obnoxious, the illegal motorcyclist is.

I was talking about the "big and bad" H-D sound. I assumed he meant the modified ones. I wouldn't call a stock H-D sound "big and bad".

You're correct. Stock H-Ds aren't particularly loud.

Huh? Those HD's with straight pipes aren't running HD engines?

There are several manufactures of twin V engines that do not make motorcycles (at least not mass produced) and typically are expensive and installed in choppers. In most states the straight piped choppers are not legal, but the law seems poorly enforced.

Ok, enough about bragging about your willies.

I am aghast that an adult male would want to be proud of waving either frankly.
