Stupid radio gear question

The latest boat that I'm building - and it's on my website- might need more channels than I've got available on the tranny I'm using, an old Futaba



27meg 2 channel set. I've got to of these radio sets (on different frequencies), so I figured that it'd be a simple job to combine them into one case with 2 aerials sticking out of the top. Is there any reason why this shouldn't work? Of course the next question is, can I dispense with one of the aerials and connect the two outputs to one aerial?

Two transmitters on different channels should work OK to control 4 channels.

My amateur guess is that one aerial will work, too, over short distances, as long as there is sufficient separation between the frequences. Try it and let us know how it works. ;o)

Theres no real techy reason why it wont work.

As for using one antenna, yes that should work also. I have often run amateur receivers off one aerial with no ill effects.

As for combining them in one case...why? Tape the two rx blocks together and you'll still have two rx's for when the Hun has sunk yer boat!

Any pics I can see? I recently scratch built a 40" torpedo boat, S700, 9 cells. Works a treat!

Receivers yes, transmitters no. Don't even think about it unless you are a radio ham and can build the necessary matching units. Feeding 200mW of power into the output of another one is not the way to have long life on either.

Have you ever tried for example driving a loudspeaker from two radios tuned to a different channel?

At best, massive distortion, at worst, two blown radios...

Oops! Sorry, misread the original post! Quite right too...definately LOTS of techy reasons why you can't fee two tx's into one antenna directly! In fact, having two tx's so close in both frequency and proximity might be an issue, but you'll have to try it and see.

Nice looking hull you built there, The way we used to build them is to reduce the size of the moulds and run batons every inch up the length of the hull, then staple your first strips on (same way as you did the outer skin) but glue the strips to the baton on the stem and gunnel only, next remove staples and laminate strips at right angles to the first ones, using cascamite, staple at ends until set then remove the hull from the frame work leaving only the keel/stem and gunnel batons in place.

I built my last one out of Kevlar/glass, Using a plug made from ply moulds with blue foam in-between, finished in epoxy/glass and filler, then made a mould from it using the vacuum bag press, worked very well indeed.

Ah, I was wondering about the best way to do the two layers, both at 45 degrees... Cheers...

I thought about finishing one hull, then taking a splash off it, In the end I figured I'd rather have the wood looking hulls.
