Anybody else shut out of TRF?

Yesterday, I tried to post and discovered that my Bit_Eimer account there is basically dead. I can log it, but cannot do ANYTHING else. No new posts, no replies, no private messages, etc.

And its not like I've done anything untoward.

Sent an email to technical support, but no response yet.

Actually, it's nothing you've done, there seem to be some bugs in the system. A while back, you may have noticed that there were some problems with the "send email when I get a PM" function, and a solution that worked for some was to switch it off, then switch the option back on. It worked for some, but not others. I tried changing email addresses to fix it. It allowed me to change email to a different account, which requires an email being sent to that account to verify that it was indeed your intent, but when I later went to change it back to the original email address, the verification email never showed up. Which means that the new address was never verified, which also means.....you can no longer post. Hence, Rocket Al is now Rocket-Tech Al. Who is annoyed that the good address with TRF is a stinking hotmail address. You'd think that they'd want to avoid that.

I think that's how I got in this mess too, since I also changed my email address to try to get the "send email on subscribed thread activity" function to work.

Now I can't do anything. And nobody at TRF seems to be interested in actually SOLVING the "send email" problem, rather all they do is post hearsay about possible work-arounds that don't in fact work and, worse, screw up your account.

"Welcome to the machine."

They send me private messages from within the site (not sure why anyone would not prefer email) commanding replies that cannot be sent since it crashes 3 of 3 browsers I have tried when I do.

"Shut up and like it."

I spend more time in TRF, and now that silly mail system seems to be working again. I realize different people dislike TRF for the control aspect where I personally like it better as I am too lazy to use flame filters...

But I do hate getting dozens of e-mails telling me about updated threads.

One thing to keep in mind. The whole shebang sits under one guy's desk at his house. It helps to remember this is something they do without any compensation. So I figure, It's free, why gripe...

You can turn that off though can't you. Certainly when you post a reply there's a check-box. I just set up a rule to move all TRF messages into a folder.

I only dabble occasionally, so its handy rather than an annoyance, if you use it a lot I can see how it would be a pain.

Al, Go to Edit Options on TRF & uncheck the box that notifies you when someone responds to a thread you are participating in. DR

I do believe that rule never applies on rmr. Heck, even 27 CFR

555.141-a-8 doesn't apply here and that is a FEDERAL regulation!

Oh, I know a rule that does apply on rmr! It's this one: "If you want someone to believe you, you have to provide proof."

What's the name of the ATF agent who told you that you don't need ATF permits to manufacture rocket motors? Which manufacturing facility did they inspect, and where is it located?

They know.

NAR counsel knows.

See. Proper info for the proper venue. It works.

Comments from certified morons aside.

Cheers!

"This "IS" the JI newsgroup. When the preponderance of posts are either aimed at, retorts to, from or about JI, what else can it be? Surely not a "rocketry" newsgroup."

What makes you think Jerry was manufacturing motors in a "facility" that was "located" somewhere?

Jerry's statements with regards to the provenance of the "US Rockets"-branded motors would indicate that this was not applicable.

Someone had to be manufacturing them somewhere.

So who manufactured them, where is their facility, and what did the ATF give them the same approval that Jerry claims he got? Who was the agent?

And that would be utter BULLSHIT! All the motors in question were manufactured by jerry. In the case of Powertech, jerry had partners, in the case of DPT, there was less than two employees.

Do you have factual evidence to support your bs claim?

jerry himself claims to have a Low Explosives Manufacturer Permit.

What the hell do you think the ATF issues those for?

I think we should applaud somebody who is willing to take the time...... I love TRF..... I think its the best thing that has happened to this hobby sport for a long time.... its what RMR was "back in the day".......

Don't get me wrong. TRF has been great and I really appreciate its existence and the effort it takes to make it work. But to suggest one shouldn't complain about getting "shut down" because (apparently) TRF can't sort out its email notification function is ridiculous. Its been broken for months. I can't even respond to posts on threads that I started.

Heh, at least you were once on; I've tried to sign up a couple of times and never get the confirmation e-mail. Repeated requests are unanswered.
