"Regulating" things outside of NAR/TRA jurisdiction is not "self-regulation".

But it is common practice (especially at TRA).

perhaps RAY....... the NAR ByLaws state:

Section 11: For conduct prejudicial to the objectives, reputation, or property of the Association, or for failure to observe and abide by the Safety Code(s) of the Association in all model rocket activities, a member of any class may be censured, suspended, or expelled ............

So ask yourself this, was JI's "conduct" ie shipping motors illegally without hazmat "prejudicial to the Objectives" of the ASSN ?

It also maybe that JI broke California State Fireworks Laws when he "illegally exported motors without hazmat" from California to (?) Maryland.... I'm pretty sure that JI, USR, DPT none have a CA State Exporters License.....

If a person wanted to create a little havoc in JI's life a person could call the CSFM and send them the URL about JI's DOT fine and let them do their own investigation into JI/USR/DPT.....

Would it not be ironic if the so-called self-proclaimed "father of high power rocketry" not only had his NAR/TRA membership stripped from him, but also his CA State Pyrotech license too?......

Imagine, JI not being to do anything rocketry related......what a fate to behold..........

Without even getting into a pro- or anti- Jerry argument, I have a real problem with the above, just in principle. The point of 'double jeopardy', in my mind, doesn't mean that every possible entity gets a crack at you for the same crime -- it means that the government, overall, can't try you for the same act twice. I've had a problem with this for years, with cases on both sides of the political spectrum.

Jerry hosed himself on this, IMHO, because of the action of marking the box 'model aircraft parts' -- but he got caught, and paid the price (or WILL pay it ). Keeping this going as a "let's see how many government agencies can get Jerry" seems to be fundamentally wrong, whether you like Jerry (or his actions) or not.
