Now, I have to disagree there. It produces income for the farmers, traders, factory workers, truckers, stores, and shareholders of the cigarette companies and stores. Not to mention advertising companies, magazines, and other sponsorship arrangements. Then, there are the long term income-generating effects; doctors, nurses, medical supply companies, hospital/hospice workers, drug and chemotherapy companies, diagnostic equipment companies and technicians.
And finally, it generates income for funeral homes, burial services, florists, gravestone carvers, hole diggers, and airlines and bus companies (for when friends & family must travel to attend the funeral of their loved ones) and the hotels and restaurants which they utilize. Moreover, most of these things generate tax revenues.
So, to say that cigarettes give NOTHING back is plainly mistaken.
