Yes, IIRC the fee goes into a Cat (catosrophic) fund which funds are pooled from to cover costs of uninsured, unlicsensed, unregistered drivers.........we pay more because of the dregs of society. However, the alternative is to take a bigger hit if you do get into an accident with someone uninsured as you'd have to tag your insurance company for the money.........then your premiums increase accordingly. So everyone can pay a little or the one's who are victimized can pay more.......we've been paying it so long I haven't even thought about it for a long time, it's become the price of doing business.

Hey Kurt, you could get one to wear to launches that says "CHICKEN" you know like "Goose" in Top Gun? ; )

Chicken to the danger zone!

I've been hit by bumblebees and large horseflies at somewhat higher than interstate speeds and the occasional bits of rubber and small gravel that get slung up from tires, though I can usually see that coming and dodge it. There was never enough energy to hurt me, but there sure was enough to get my attention and cause a reflex action of expletives...and then the mandatory thought of thankfullness that the things weren't very big. ;)

Cigarette butt thrown out or a car, hit me in the chest, dropped down between the seat, the gas tank and my crotch. Warmed me up a bit. I returned it to the driver at the next stop light. He was not impressed.

I've never had one hit me, thankfully. I have enjoyed watching people try to flip cigarettes out of a window opened only an inch or two, and have it bounce in their own laps. One got a little too close for comfort...

A woman did it while passing me on the interstate. She swerved completely into my lane and almost hit me as she started dancing around trying to get the cigarette out of the seat. Once I got over almost getting hit, I realized how funny she looked during the whole deal. I could have easily won one of those funniest videos contests with that one.

I was always under the mistaken impression that uninsured (or underinsured, they are combined here in IL) coverage is for things like medical bills and damage to my car if the other guy doesn't have insurance. But it turns out that the drunk that rear ended me back in 1990 had transfered his insurnce to a different car a month before hitting me with the old one (he had 3 cars, one policy). As soon as I found out about that, I got a lawyer. Turns out at least here ut pays me for ANY claim I win against the other guy if he can't pay it. He only had $20K coverage, and between my car, the car he pushed me into, and medical bills there was very little left for "pain & suffering" or the lawyer, which made the company reluctant to settle. But if I'd gone to court and got a $100K judgement against the drunk, MY insurance company would have been on the hook for the rest. Something most insurance companies don't what you to know.

I've alays wanted to do that to inconsiderate morons who treat the world as their ashtrays. Especially the ones who dump the whole tray out the window at the traffic light...

I watched one gal open her door and bend over. I thought she was gonna be sick. She spit her gum out on the street.

Ever notice the pile of butts along the roadside at traffic lights? MAN!

Randy

Honeybee smacked me in the throat, at about 75MPH. Hit right below the Adam's apple, right in the fleshy part, just below the lower lip of the helmet's face shield. I thought I had been shot when I felt liquid stuff going down my shirt and around my neck. It was only after I pulled over and saw the beehives that I realized what happened. I was darn lucky I didn't dump the bike.

That reminds me of the time (Many years ago) when I was riding two up with my first wife.

A bee went up her sleeve. I just heard her scream and rip her top off. I thought she had lost her mind.

We were in heavy city traffic. She was young, blonde, and good looking so I had my hands full with the suddenly changing traffic pattern. :)

Ever have a big chunk of retread hit you or one of those road marker posts? I have and I was very glad that I was driving a big cage at the time. I'd have been roadkill had I done the same on a bike. On both occasions, I was on the Skuylkill Expressway (lovingly referred to as the Surekill Distressway) and had zero opportunity to evade the objects.

I can paint. Ebay, here I come!

Two weeks ago. Minivan kicked up a piece of retread about the size of a softball, which then started doing the football bounce all over the road. Hit me in the toe and then the shin but since I wear armored boots, it was not a painful event. Yay Alpinestars.

Off the top of my head, I have also been hit by: a june bug right in the adams apple, tobacco spit, loogies, and a plastic Mountain Dew bottle.

I agree, a June bug at speed really hurts. And having one crawl around on your nuts feels really odd and quite painful. It was enough to cause me to pull over and drop trou.

In the days before the Honda Revolution" bikers were often subjected to outright hostility by drunken rednecks.

Thus on long rides I frequently wore an unconcealed gun (Still legal in my state) Usually the sight of it was enough to send the rednecks away, but one night on a lonely stretch of Kansas highway, a pickup full of drunk high-schoolers passed and threw beer bottles at me.

Then I just outran them for a while but even though they could not catch me, they kept trying. So, I figured that if they kept driving at +100 mph they would end up in a wreck.

So.... I stopped on the shoulder and when they pulled up beside me (No doubt intending to beat the s*it out of me), I shot out two or their tires and took off.

I figured that two spares were unlikely, and this was pre-cell phones. I they were likely such for the rest of the night. :)

One time I had completely forgotten I was wearing it and was puzzled when the Seven Eleven clerk gave me my gas and a couple packs of smokes for free. :)

Hey, you meet the nicest people ;-)

Illegal to carry on a motorcycle in Georgia (best I can tell).

Given the way some cage drivers push motorcyclists around, I think I understand why.
