No way. Aircraft "associated with the activity" are perfectly legal. You are supposed to stop for aircraft who are "unaware" of the activity. Airspace is always sharable among various users who are "compatible" such as two HPR launch groups on the same dry lake for examp[le.
It's ONLY TRA clubs that try to exclude ALL OTHER USERS from MILES from their groups. It is an illegal control freak thing.
Or even a manned aircraft. Even at MTA launches aircraft are used often to spot amateur rocket trajectories.
Your "sensibilities" have no connection whatsoever with the law or even accepted industry practice and 4000 screaming children do not industry practice make.

But that would make for some way cool video, eh?
I think the flash pan ignition "compromised the structural integrity of the airframe" (i.e., melted it).
len.
Now, THAT'S an igniter! :)
Bob - that is an outstanding idea!
flyrockets.com should have 3 pages for the projects featured in each of the shows, with some brief background and links to the builder or clubs website where construction and previous flight info can be seen
Greg? what do you think?

Better make sure that we can secure the domain name indefinitely before creating perpetual links to the site.

I noticed a few Loc/Precision hats and shirts. Free advertising for them! I have nothing against LOC, I was a dealer for years. But we could make up a couple hundred

Yeah, I've been a little worried about this. I've seen no written agreement. What's to stop the owners from selling it and making a few bucks? It's already been bookmarked by over 4500 Internet users. The flyrockets.com domain is worth real $.

Your paranoia aside, Syonic allowed us to use it. They have no need for it. The worse that could happen is if it became wildly successful they might start charging a market rate for its use, which is wnat? $100 per month or less?
Thank them.
I told you so.
Well, I did!
It looked like one of the motors came VERY close to actually hitting the camera. I'd have to go single frame through the tape to be sure, but it was very large in the frame.
This stuff would hold more water if you also admitted your mistakes, Jerry.
I see the admin contact for the domain is a guy named Alex Hancock. I don't know Alex but as long as a few others vouch for him, then great. Thank you Alex for taking care of things.
My paranoia came from being in the dot com game, I've witnessed too many deals go bad and companies deciding they can make a few more bucks by changing a word or two in a service agreement or wording a contract differently than the salesmen pitched it.
A little more digging and Alex himself owns the syonictech.com domain. He has "rocketman" in his email address so it seems that he's one of us. If it was some corporation, I'd be a little more worried. I rest a little easier knowing it's in the hands of him directly.

jerry: how about some flyrockets.com or rocket challenge Tshirts?
50% of proceeds go into a fund for more commericials, ads, legal fund, whatever? shockie B)
This isn't a binaries newsgroup - any posts that big would likely get bounced.
Oh, forget it.....
Just so long as they are BILL ON DELIVERY and NOT prepaid!!
I do and the fact you imply I don't means you are not only an anonymous troll, but not paying attention too.
Or we could find another URL that is guaranteed to always be available and will not cost anything. Just to prove to myself that names are available, I easily registered "fly-rockets.com" and "hobbyrocketry.com". There are, of course, many others that could be used. If either of these names are wanted, I will transfer ownership to Greg.
Sure, maybe we are paranoid, but a lot of effort and a lot of donated money is riding on this. We need to be sure that the domain is available for many many years before committing permanent collateral to the URL.

BB: of course I was trying to be funny...... but still...flyrocket.com and saverocketry.com tshirts show be printed up by the sponsors and sold...I'd buy one of both if they were snazzy and 50% proceeds went to a good cause
