1/72 scale jet aircraft stand needed

Jul 06, 2004 5 Replies

I posted quite a while back that I was looking for a stand for a model I was building. I finished it and A. Van Der Hoek was kind enough to send a stand all the way from the netherlands. I used that one for my Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut, and now I need one for my Sukhoi Su-34 (platypus) Is there a way to post pictures on this group?

Can anyone help me out with an extra that they are not gonna use? (Seems like many people like building planes with the gear down, NOT ME!)

Thanks Dave Wood Ravenna OH USA

Have you looked at Airfix.com? They sell 3-packs of the aircraft stands you used to get in Airfix kits way back then. Hannants stock them too and I'm sure you can find a US importer.

How about making your own? It is an ideal use, for old trophies/plaques, accumulated from model shows and contests. Finish it with a nice engraved nameplate. Suspend the model on a section of brass tubing. It will look far more professional than the cheap plastic model stands.

Nick thanks, that is what I will probably do, unless someone offers up a freebie that they are not gonna use. I considered the custom home made one, and am afraid that it would "outshine" the model. May also do that though. Thanks for the replies gentlemen.

if you cant find the Airfix 3 in the US, email me and marcway.com have some, postage to the US wont be a lot, i am in the shop Sat and i can forward some to you and you jsut send me the bucks cost, i often use bucks so thats no prob, i checked to seee if i had any but not

That is what I decided to do. I have some nice oak and I just scroll-sawed a nice stand shape, rounded the edges, and am gonna use music wire that I have from R/C model pushrods to mount to. Looking good so far. Thanks again for all the help and offers.
