Seen some rumors from a website Friday that either Revell-Monogram or Germany will be coming out with the Gato Class Submarine in 1/72 scale. In my opinion, that would be nice though. Imagine me putting together the U.S.S. Drum and donating it to the U.S.S. Alabama battleship memorial and park.
Does anyone have any more information to pass along?
The word at Steelnavy is that it's to be based on the Cobia at Manitowoc--mid-Gato, tall roofed bridge, Electric Boat drainholes. Be nice if they could cross the Lake and have a look at the Silversides while they're at it.
Whaddya wanta' know? I live here - but I am *not* goin' underneath that thing (the Cobia lies at anchor in the Manitowoc River, a foot off the bottom - unless it's sunk again) to look at the keel!
