1/72 scale Gato Class Sub..

I just did something to my 1/72 scale Gato sub today.

The periscopes on the sub was very bad. They had some bows on both periscopes. What I did was, I bought me some 3/32X.014 aluminum rods on them and it turned out perfect. Now the periscopes are very straight.

So I just wanted everyone to know.. I do not know if anyone has done it or not done it, but just founded out today...

HTH..

Planning to do that with my next sub kits - 1/72 Gato and Type VIIC/41...use aluminum tube for the main scope tube, and just cut off and attach the tapered portions of the upper end to the metal tube.

Would have done it with my present Type VIIC kit if I didn't have a set of turned aluminum scopes and gun barrels for it already.

Went back to work part time, so that's getting in the way now...but I'm about ready to close the hull - finished fitting the pressure hull kit, and have a start on the painting of the upper portions of the hull. Need to work in a bit of the camo before I get the glue out. Debating a few more internal hull touches as well.

Fininshed cutting all of the holes - deck included. Working all that Eduard etch.

If I can hold off band practice this weekend I may be able to get the hull painted and closed...then I'll do another photo session.
