A/C Experts: Please help ID a landing gear strut!

Feb 26, 2006 2 Replies

Hi,

I am trying to ID a landing gear strut which had to have come from a kit that was available back in 1976. Unfortunately, I only have some photos of the strut partially obscured. I believe the scale is at least 1/48-1/50, perhaps even bigger. I've looked at all the usual suspects but I can't seem to find a match. From my research, the B-25 Mitchell nose gear strut looks the closest-- but so far I can't find the right kit.

Please take a look at the photos here:

... and please email me if you have any clue as to what aicraft or, more specifically, what kit this might have come from. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!

I'm pretty sure Revell's 1/48 B-25B was released in the early

70s.

A Mitchell looks likely but I'm not sure who was making one that large in '76. Somebody more conversant with 1/48 will know when the Monogram kit came out. If it helps any, I think Revell's B-25B was 1/64 or 1/67.
