Correct Gray Paint Color for R/M F-86D Wing

Jan 11, 2007 2 Replies

Any color recommendations (Tamiya or Pollyscale) to correctly replicate the gray color of the middle section of the wing on the Revell/Monogram F-86D?

Thanks, Jeff

I think it was a low sheen aluminum. You might try a flat aluminum colour.

You might try this: I'm guessing that you are starting with an overal coat of some kind of buffing Aluminium to get the bright work in one pass. If you're using Testor's Buffing Aluminium, buff out the areas to be shiniest and areas that are to be a duller sheen, like the wing centers, don't buff as much or just enough to knock off the loose particles. Also buffing panels in different directions creates tint differences between them.

I'll post an example of a Hun using this technique over on abms.
