FLYING SUBMARINE assistance

Never thought ADC was funny either. Merriman, poor soul, clearly can build a very nice model from the most basic materials, and without scratch builders, we don't have a hobby, because someone has to master the parts for the kits we buy and build. Tell you what, though, without us assemblers, there's no hobby either, because next to nobody would be left to appreciate scratch-building skill.

The root of the problem (and if there is a problem, it's Merriman's not mine, so I don't care much whether it's ever solved) is that he can't get anyone to buy into his elitist mindset, no matter how much he berates us. This latest posting seems like a stealth attempt to get us to pay attention. Judging by the size of the thread, it succeeded, but perhaps the attention is a little less positive than he might have wished. Shrug.

Comet Models (of England) made a somewhat crude one about

Dave is a nice guy, loves to anger the kit builders of the world. Much like a kid poking a yellow jacket nest just to watch them swarm. Many people who haven't met him personally just takes for granted his online pokes as who he really is.

Dave and myself were giving one day different classes on the casting of metals for model work about a year ago. Due to the timetable for classes being cut short that day, Dave offered to forego his class on spin casting to allow mine on casting aluminum to have it's full time allotted to be used. Dave made a 5 hour trip on his own personal time to give this class and in fact to my knowledge never did. I really wanted to hear about his instruction on spin casting but was unable to, he never complained but in fact asked many questions about casting aluminum and like wise shared with me his experience concerning spin casting.

My own experience with Dave is that he may come off as an ass on online but in real life will share with anyone interested his experience if only they ask. Straight up guy but loves to poke the bees!

after I finally decided to google the original post, this part "Here's your chance to ride the coattails of one of the worlds finest Model Builders and technical writers. Either post your wisdom here or send your information to..." makes me think that he THOUGHT he was being funny...at least I hope so,cause from what I saw in the past,I wasn't that impressed...

Wow - I never thought I'd see the day where the Model God himself admitted ignorance on *any* modeling subject! Kill the fatted calf! Sound the trumpets! Oh, happy day! Now, go screw yourself, David.

Best of luck on your project.

He's entirely deserving of it, too... And then some.

thanks for the link...I knew I had heard the name before...they at least added a warning:"Standard David Merriman Disclaimer: Some people don't like reading David Merrriman's articles. If you are one of them, try visiting a different page. David is very opinionated and very talented. You get a bit of both from him. You have been warned." whewwwww*rolls eyes*

What _is_ the emoticon for eye rolling? As much as I hate smileys, that's one I'd use.
