while anything is possible, I have heard absolutely nothing regarding any aftermarket efforts to make it into an early version A-5. Since the bird was a pretty dismal failure in that roll, and there were almost no operational markings, I suspect you might be on your own.
I don't think it would be a real difficult thing to do. as the relevant area of the spine is pretty well defined on the kit. I have not researched it much, but I don't think the aft canopy actually changed either location or angle, so it might be a matter of carving out the RA bulged spine and replacing it with a lower one.
There are two really good books that cover most of the Vigi. history. The new Steve Ginter Naval Fighters book, and the older Aerofax Minigraph #9. There are a couple others, but those two have most of the operational and test squadrons well documented.
Would be a challenging conversion, but interesting.
