Re: WAY OT: Re: Can we PLEASE remember ........

I must have a memory problem too, because .....

We know that you do already, you've proved over and over.

I don't recall finding weapons of mass destruction.

Still looking and Iraq is a big place. What will you say if they do indeed find them ?

I don't recall evidence of a nuclear cloud threat from Saddam.

An immedate one, no, but no question he was planning on obtaining one just as soon as he could

I don't recall Bush showing up for his National Guard obligations.

You do have proof to back this claim ?? You EVER fly a high performance jet before ??

I don't recall Bush ever reading a book, or anything for that matter.

Pffffttttt...... I can say the same about you...........

I don't recall our President being elected.

Take a close look sometime. Bush WON both the popular vote, and the electorial college. Tho winning the electrorial college is the most important, but recounts done by the media afterwards using Gore counting methods show Bush still won the popuilar vote. Stop trying to prepetuate the myth/lie liberals expouse about the popular vote. Check media results sometime !

I don't recall Al Queda in Iraq before the war.

You are not an intellegence anylist/specialist either So just how would you have known ?? Known terrorists were known to have been in Iraq, and trained there.

I don't recall Mr. Bush ever taking responsibility for anything.

More than you EVER have in your life !!!!!

Just what have YOU done that is sooooo important ???

They have yet to find evidence they actually had them, let alone finding them.

All they can say is he wanted them but so far there is no evidence he possessed capacity to make them. I want a lot of things I'll never possess...

Of course the US bombed suspected Iraqi locations of WMD in '93, '94, 96,

97, almost all of '98, and 99, but nobody seems to want to mention they may have been destroyed then, as that would give credit to the administration's other enemy... OTOH, not allowing their predicessors may have done the work opens the the door to why not, which asks the question if this doesn't show faulty intellegence going back at least 11 years...

He's a chicken hawk. He strongly supports people fighting and perhaps dying for his nation's causes, just not himself. His connections let him jump over others to join a champaign unit. But it was probably better for the nation he was stateside in a champaign unit. His dad was a true war hero, like Kerry.

The majority of the media continues to refer to Gore winning the popular vote.

Oh, really??

"# January 23, 1993: Mir Aimal Kansi, a Pakistani, opens fire on CIA employees on the street outside the agency's headquarters in Virginia. Kansi allegedly is angry about the treatment of Muslims in Bosnia; in retaliation, he had planned to get even by shooting up the CIA, the White House, and the Israeli embassy. # February 26, 1993: Islamic terrorists truck-bomb the World Trade Center. The perpetrators had wanted to kill up to a quarter million people by toppling the twin towers like two dominos. Ramzi Yousef, the leader of the bombers, said they intended to inflict Hiroshima-level casualties as punishment for U.S. policies in the Middle East.

# October 3, 1993: After U.S. armed forces kill thousands of Somalians--an attack about which the commander of the operation, Marine Lt. Gen. Anthony Zinni, told the press, "I'm not counting bodies . . . I'm not interested"--al-Qaeda-trained Somalian tribesmen conduct ambushes of U.S. "peacekeeping" forces in Somalia. The attacks down two helicopters and kill 18 American Army Rangers, resulting in the infamous dragging of dead American soldiers through the streets of Mogadishu. An indictment alleges that al-Qaeda believes the United States has plans to occupy Islamic countries, as demonstrated by its involvement in Somalia and Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf War. U.S. forces would be withdrawn from Somalia, and bin Laden would later call the Somalia operation his group's greatest victory. # November 13, 1995: A military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, housing U.S. troops is car-bombed, killing seven people, including five Americans, and wounding 42 others. Muslims seeking to overthrow the oppressive Saudi monarchy and expel the United States from Saudi Arabia carried out the bombings. Three groups, including the Islamic Movement for Change, claim responsibility, and U.S. officials suspect Osama bin Laden was involved.

# June 25, 1996: A U.S. military apartment complex, Khobar Towers, near Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, is truck-bombed, killing 19 U.S. airmen and wounding 515 people, including 240 U.S. citizens. U.S. officials have linked Osama bin Laden to the bombing, and some analysts also suspect Iran of complicity. # February 23, 1997: A Palestinian, Ali Hassan Abu Kamal, opens fire on the observation deck of the Empire State Building, killing and wounding several tourists before committing suicide.

# November 12, 1997: Four employees of Union Texas Petroleum are killed in an attack one mile from the U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan. The Islamic Revolutionary Council and the Aimal Secret Committee claim the killings are revenge for the conviction of Mir Aimal Kansi, the Pakistani man who murdered CIA employees in their cars in January 1993.

# August 7, 1998: Simultaneous car-bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, both linked to Osama bin Laden, kill more than 200 Africans--mostly Muslims. Before the bombings, bin Laden issues a Fatwa that he will kill Americans and will not discriminate between military personnel and civilians. In retaliation, on August 20, 1998, the U.S. launches cruise missiles on bin Laden's al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan and a factory in Sudan. The Clinton administration claims the Sudanese factory produced chemical weapons and was linked to bin Laden. This is later proven to be a lie, but it would not stop Clinton from declaring his own, although fragmentary, "War on Terrorism" in the midst of impeachment. # October 2000: The USS Cole is dinghy-bombed while in port in Yemen. Al-Qaeda is widely suspected, in bin Laden's ongoing personal war against U.S. policies in the Middle East."

17 sailors were killed in that attack....

Conceding that.........still leaves eight that Al cited as being fully on Clinton's watch. The loss of lives in Somalia could have been significantly reduced had SECDEF Les "we don't need armor in Somalia" Aspin not folded under pressure from Clinton and disallowed the troops the firepower and protection they were asking for.

True. How about the other instances I cited? How long does a president have to be in office before he's 'responsible' for something that occurs on his watch? A bit less than eight months, I suppose.....

What? Iraq not only had WMD, it used them more than once.

Talk about recidivism; if we release the detainees (or POWs) you can bet it will not be long before our troops see many of them again, peering at our troops from behind the sights of an RPG or an AK-47.

Hopefully, next time, they'll be killed before they can hurt any or our troops so they will not have to suffer the indignity of being a POW or a detainee.

Of the British detainees some were released staright away on arrival in the UK., the rest at intervals over two days after questioning. There being absolutely no proof of their involvement in any offences they are free men. They may be unusual but there again many more in Cuba may be just as innocent. Not to forget the dual standards that an American detained does get justice, which is denied to the non Americans.
