WW II Moveis

Interesting this about Niels Bohr. The latest issue (March) - here in the Antipodes, anyway - of the Brit magazine 'Aeroplane' has an article written by the daughter of the Radio Operator of that BOAC Mosquito, who was on that mission. They picked Bohr up from Bromma, Sweden as part of the normal 'ball-bearing run', if those missions could ever have been called normal! Very good article, by someone who was (almost) involved.

Maybe the real crew didn't want to be involved with a turkey?

Maybe it'll be a dog like 'Midway'? ILM is no guarantee of nuffin'.

Thank-you Rick - I was just about to mention it! Bloody fine effort that! My Mum has a copy on VHS (B&W in '65!), a memory from her early twenties. And if you can work out how old she is now, I'm sure she'd rather you didn't say...

for those who don't already know of it.

And it's still a good one!

I'm an Alistair McLean fan, but I find 'Eagles' a bit tedious. Such a shame no-one's ever committed 'HMS Ulysses' to film - it could be every bit as powerful as SPR or 'The Bridge" or even "All Quiet on the Western Front"

Now I'll have to sit down and write out all your reccomendations and then go visit the local flick pedaller and try to get the discs and then order the videos and then wait and wait and wait and then answer the phone and then go back to the local flick pedaller and then get the videos and then come home and watch the videos and... when do I find time to do all this? Damn you all! :-) RobG

It's pretty much everywhere I can find on DVD for about $10 (Walmart, Fred Meyers, etc.)

Once recent one I've had for months, but have yet to watch... "Enemy at the Gates." Sniper duel....

I remember that one. Actually, I wanted to see it because of the "One" video, of all things... lost my copy of it some time back, though.

Well, in between, you can work on models....

LOL, You'd only spend the time making modeds anyway

But wierd snipers who, having shot someone, are apparently under orders to go and collect the dead guy's dog tags, which doesn't really seem right.

"Ice Cold In Alex" was on UKTV a few weeks back - I watched it with a few cans of lager :-)

Of course, if you are in the UK you can tell everyone else that the Carlsberg beer advert shown a few years back was the cheapest advert ever! Just use all the footage where they are at the bar and "Hey presto."

Richard.

Well, it's like Miss Universe, but no-one's invited!

Richard.

Damn! You have an HMV audio/video store near you ?

My local HMV took about three months to get me a video copy of Coastal Command and the copy I got was so bad, the picture rolled just like the old days.

Richard.

I may have missed it, but who named "12 O'Clock High"?

Rick

I was speaking about a Region 4 release... I didn't think there would be any interest around here. Still, I'll probably buy a Region 1 DVD online, given that my player and all the titles I've ever bought (with the exception of "Murder by Death") are Region 1 instead of 4...
