Devon,
I'm not aware of any method to export models directly from SolidWorks to Pro/E and have Pro/E recognize them. How are you exporting the files to Pro/E? What file type are you using?
Save as, ProE Part or Assembly, *.prt or *.asm.
Data is exported as solid or surface files.
