Decoder recommendations

I have decided to go DCC on my small new layout and will shortly be purchasing a Lenz Compact (unless anyone can give me a good reason not to or make an alternative recommendation!).

What would be a good choice of decoder to get the most out of poor Lima mechanisms? I don't need function outputs for these as they do not have lights.

Also a recommendation that is good with Bachmann can motored stock would be useful.

Many thanks

The Compact is a superb piece of kit, providing its limitations (2.5A maximum current draw and 2-digit addesssing) are acceptable to you.

You need back-EMF decoder with Lima. The LE1024/1025 series are adequate, but the 1035 and new HO Gold decoders *might* give better control and less noise.

Providing you get rid of all the inbuild capacitors, the silent drive 1014 decoders work fine on my Bachmann diesel stock using a Compact command centre, but if you should want back-EMF with these then look at the 1035 or Gold decoders.

The other alternatives are the Digitrax DCS50 and Bachmann EZ control. The Digitrax unit allows you to hook up DC controllers so you can reuse existing controller for extra throttles. I think the Bachmann unit does the same as well, waiting to be corrected.
