Just found one of my old loco's from the early 80's
It's a Class A4 4-6-2 Mallard with a late BR crest ( the red lion sitting in a crown ).
As it has the 1980 / 81 Hornby Crest ( the one with the belt and buckle ) on the box and black wire handrails, cab brass works & crew figures it's the R309 from 1981 ?
It's the only model loco I have seen with an 8 wheel tender !
Anything special about the R350 ?

Didn't all Sir Nigel's Pacifics have 8-wheel tenders? My 1990-ish Hornby Flying Scotsman in 1923/4 livery has one, albeit without a corridor, used later to facilitate crew changes without stopping.

2400-2404, the Raven A2s. 3696-3699 (later 60507-60510), the Thompson A2/1 V2 conversions.
The W1 only ran in general service with two tenders - corridor tender
5484 to June 1948 and non-corridor tender 5639 thereafter. (Yeadon Vol 2 notes an NER tender no 763 for 4 days from new and non-corridor tender 5647 while in works in July/Aug 1953. RCTS Part 6C says 5647 needed attention and 5639 didn't; hence the brief swap.)Tender 5484 is now attached to Union of South Africa.

3697/60508 to traffic 30/6/44. 8w tender when ex Doncaster 15/6/49. 3698/60509 to traffic 15/11/44. 8w tender when ex Darlington 26/10/46. 3699/60510 to traffic 13/1/45. 8w tender when ex Doncaster 2/9/49. 3696's new tender was ex-4469, the A4 bombed at York.
