I'd have thought there were lots of sales to be had if these were made in OO.

Hurst Models produced a set of etched parts to convert the Hornby 155 into a par of 153s.

There is a picture of a finished unit on their website

which looks very nice indeed.

The 155 was one of the better models acquired by Hornby from Dapol (underframe and motor apart). As JS says, there are a lot of sales to be made with 153's and the multitude of liveries that they are now in.

I've heard some serious criticism of the body too, but apart from body, chassis and motor it's fine. ;-)

Now the Dapol 150 body was worth serious criticism! I thought the 155 was reasonable (but then, I'm not a P4 modeller....................)

Actually, the Dapol 155 was pretty good for it's day, seemingly produced on a different planet to the 150. I've still got one knocking about from my OO days somewhere, fitted with Chris Leigh's 153 ends.

My first 155 ended up with scratchbuilt ends as the original Chris Leigh kit was simply a copy of the "original" cab. Whereas the new cab fitted to the

153's is completely different.

153351 in ex-Arriva turquoise, partnered with ex-FNW blue 153361 just passed my back door!

Hi Mick,

At least the N Gauge kit has the correct shape "New" end :-)

My Chris Leigh castings took rather a bashing to approximate the correct shape. Then again, I built one or two MTK kits in my time, so it was a breeze by comparison.

I'm just totally surprised that no-one's done a decent 153 in OO yet, given the enormous variety of liveries. Don't want one in N, thanks very much!!
