Agreed. So what if they're self-insured as long as they pay off claims.

That has been done on the TRA Forum & no one has been thrown out. In fact, the BoD addresses the complaint. I'm not saying that the necessarily do whatever the complaining person wants but, I feel they usually handle things well.

Mark,
I'm not trying to make this into a TRA vs NAR thing. The situation is that a few members & myself, would like to fly some EX here in Philly. Our club is a NAR Section. To have similar coverage for EX, we would need to join TRA. We are comparing coverages between the two as part of the decision. Maybe it makes sense to be affiliated with both or maybe just one.

What is so special about Friday that makes it healthy? Is it not healthy on Monday and Wednesday too?
Biorhythms? Or being struck down by lightening if you don't? Or feeling so guilty that your stress levels eat away at your immune system? ;-)
Why question why a cultural/religious tradition has to make sense?
If it's fried, it isn't healthy on any day of the week. If it's hauled in from heavy-metal riddled coastal runoff areas, it ain't healthy baked, fried, grilled, or otherwise.
But it suuuuuuure tastes good deep fried! I've kicked the habit down to about one Friday per month.
-John (what does this have to do with Tripoli? Something's fishy.)
So in this case it is NOT a rule, but a preference, or a suggestion. Driving under 25 is a RULE in a residential zone. If you ae caught driving 35 or 55 you get a ticket. That is a consequence for violating a rule.

Do it totally unrelated to TRA and as such be MORE legal than with. In fact form a IEAS group.
False assumption and a dangerous one.
Once a year in August, interrupted by a lengthy raffle.
They do not claim to be self insured. They claim to be insured.
They do not claim to deliver 3-4 magazines a year. They claim to deliver 9.
They do not claim EX is a sad joke on TRA members. They claim EX is legal, insured, and withing the TRA charter.

Biorythems - Friday is good. Mondays suck

You need to come drive in Michigan, Jerry. ALL speed limits are "suggestions" and can be negotiated between you and Johnny Law at times. I routinely see people passing cops on the highway doing 10 over the speed limit. Mark Simpson NAR 71503 Level II God Bless our peacekeepers
It started as a religious thing during Lent.
I eat it baked or broiled, not fried. Since losing over 60 pounds, I try to stay away from fried foods.
Yep, it sure DID (past tense)
Something's always fishy when we talk about Tripoli. ;-)

Amen!...I guess that makes it a religious reason, too. ;-)

Theoretically it's the same here, you can legally speed if the conditions permit it. The problem is, if you're ticketed, you've got to convince a judge that your speed was safe for the conditions, and the judge always sides with the cop who, of course, always claims that the conditions weren't safe.
I dodged getting a speeding ticket recently.
I had been pulled over by a Maryland state trooper, when I asked him if he could sell me some tickets to the State Police Ball.
He said, "Maryland State Police don't have balls....."
Then he got all red-faced, got back in his cruiser and drove off.....
Does TRA insurance cover *ME* (a non TRA member) if I fly at a TRA sanctioned launch? Can someone not a member of NAR or TRA fly at a TRA launch at all and still have the club covered?
TRA insurance is inferior to NAR insurance in every way that matters. And WAY too expensive. And the LDRS insurance surcharges are nothing but a rip-off.

Since you're a TRA member, ask (in writing, return receipt requested) TRA for the financials for the past 5 years. Do some digging and account for the dues. We're only looking at about a third of a MILLION dollars a year. Have a good accountant look things over.
Once you've had a look, let us all know what you (or your accountant) think.

I have offered to co-pay for any professional review of documents.
It DOES matter. The difference is that NAR insurance still covers the CLUB and the SITE OWNER if a non member is allowed to fly. TRA insurance doesn't, thus guests can not fly at TRA launches. If they do, the whole coverage goes out the window.
And it's not the NAR or the host clubs problem id a non member has no insurance to cover them. THe club is only concerned with club and site owner coverage. Which is PRIMARY with NAR insurance, and in force even if the incident is caused by a guest non member.
