That the BEST you can do?
Ae you saying that you are a Merkin, and I am a Brit, and I know what a Neo conservative is, and you don't?
That I, a mere bystander in a foreign country, actually know more about current US political philosophy than you do?
But I don't get to vote it?
The mind boggles.....
Er, no, they didn't. They started dropping when people noted the hollowness of many of the dotcom boom companies, and the corruption inherent in the likes of Enron, Worldcom etc., and started shorting the market big time.
I am not saying that this is what caused the decline, only
The same attitude of corporate greed caused both the the boom and the bust. I know. I was part of both.
I make such living as I do these days by watching market trends. And backing them. I don't know it all, but I would claim to know more than you.
My prediction is that in ten years time you will look back on 911 with a wistful and innocent fondness, and be happy to trade a 911, plus the prosperity you had at that time, or the conditions you had then as a fat sassy and happy american citizen.
The oil age is coming to an end, and with it much of the current prosperity of the USA, and most importantly a lifestyle that is simply no longer tenable. I am not making moral judgements here - if there were infinite amounts of oil, available from friendly nations at 2c a barrel, why not? The fact is there is limited amounts, its available from increasingly unfriendly nations at prices that are as high as they have ever been, and the price of maintaining the supply is very very high, and the price in terms of global warming resulting from burning it in the volumes it is being burnt, threaten to topple the world back into the carboniferous era again, which, if you look it up, was the age during which most of the oil was actually formed.
politicians do no in general have vision. Or if they do its tantamount to paranoid hallucinations. The best we can expect is that they come to grips with the real causes of the changes that happen, and steer a pragmatic path through them towards the inevitable results.
Even Dubya, bless his little cotton socks, can't reverse global warming or take the Co2 out of the air now. His power entirely rests on the value of an industry that has had its day, and will in time become largely irrelevant. It just doesn't know it yet.
The best you can do is get aware of the real issues - ignoring Neo Conservative fantasies as much as possible - and vote in *anyone* irrespective of what party they happen to feel offers them the best chance of satisfying their desire for power and glory, and actually has some native wit and some understanding of what is going on. Clinton may have been a lecher and a liar, but his lies did far less harm than Dubyas, and he did at least have more than two brain cells to rub together, and some form of education.
Forget party politics - its a complete distraction, sustained by the parties in order to provide some for of reason why you should vote in one over the other. Neither are competent, neither have your best interests at heart, and neither give a f*ck about the man in the street, except insofar as he carries a single vote. Sell that vote as dearly as you can, to the man who is willing to trade you some kind of rational intelligence and perception for it, and who has the wit to realise that if you f*ck peasants over enough, one day they will find a way to f*ck you back. And revolting peasants are expensive to rectify.
As we are discovering.

Read your Popper Todd. That is not actually a rational statement you have made.
That is fairly characteristic of a typical Neo Con attitude.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world will watch America humiliate itself without Bushes bumbling assistance.
We look forward to the GITification of the USA, with interest..
Rusted dismantled or hidden someplace no one currently in power knows of.
Saddam did what he has to do to stay in power. In the end, he was less afraid of going down in a blaze of glory, than having the Iranians invade, or having hs own enemies in Iraq get him.
He dismantled what he had to, because he knew he would never be allowed to use them again without massive retaliation. He pretended e had not, because that way he kept his enemies guessing.
Fooled Dubya, but that doesn't take much.
No Paul, he is wearing Neo Con glasses. They turn the world into simple black and white.
The good clean and powerful Race Of Free Americans, and a nasty morass of stuff that he doesn't understand, and is therefor evil nasty, and suitable candidates for nuking.
How much damage could a kadet senior or 1/4 scale cause carrying 5 pounds of the best explosive into a major power grid, etc .
>HOW ABOUT CHANGING THE SUBJECT LINE AND STARTING A NEW THREAD ON THIS POLITICAL STUFF!

07:39:26 +0100Typical LIEberal. Resorting to ad hominem attacks instead of addressing the issues. No surprise there.

07:38:43 +0100Given the time lag between cause and effect as it applies to the economy, it is not unreasonable to relate the two events. In any case, it is obvious that the economy went into free-fall well before the 2000 election. Yet the LIEberals insist on blaming President Bush.

http://216.26.163.62/2004/me_iraq_06_11.html "The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in
2003.The UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission briefed the Security Council on new findings that could help trace the whereabouts of Saddam's missile and WMD program.
The briefing contained satellite photographs that demonstrated the speed with which Saddam dismantled his missile and WMD sites before and during the war. Council members were shown photographs of a ballistic missile site outside Baghdad in May 2003, and then saw a satellite image of the same location in February 2004, in which facilities had disappeared."
Note that 2003 and 2004 are not 'about ten years ago'.

+0100No, poofter...I'm saying that the LIEberals made up a word and refuse to define it.

07:44:20 +0100Slick says so himself. He admits that he met with CIA director George Tenet twice...and only twice.

07:43:29 +0100No. It is, however, all I NEEDED to do to prove that jeboba was lying when he said "no one has proved the liberals are lieing" (sic)
The Natural Philosopher posted message IDon Tue, 22 Jun 2004 11:19:14
+0100Sure it is. I have caught so many LIEberals in so many lies that I now require them to support any claim with evidence before I'll waste my time with it. You retards can shriek all you wish, but I will ignore you untill you back it up with facts.
ditto
I'm roflmao. You're accusing ME of avoiding facts? Hell, the lies from Bush and all his cronies are so obvious but you choose to keep believing them. Your facts are based on a house of cards that about to crash in November. Like all the rest of the neocons, if you don't agree, you're anti-american. This country was based on the right to question and disagree with your government but Ashcroft has taken us to another world with his Gestapo tactics wherein if you so much as blink, you can be arrested. Doesn't this scare you the least little bit? Unreal!
