In medicine, things may not be as simple as they first appear. When I went in for an angioplasty I wound up getting a quad bypass the next day instead. Ouch. But I wish him only health and a speedy recovery.

Hey Gunner,
Geez, if you don't just watch that old e-mail on an hourly basis, suddenly you miss out on what should be the longest thread on this list this year. 12 hours since Leighs posting, and it still shocked me!! Get well soon guy! We're all pulling for you to get through all this OK. Even your posting adversaries I'm sure.
But in the very best RCM " tradition", I'll start the side-show part.
Hey all you dummies, it's a Stent Shunt procedure. The stint is the short stay we hope he's in hospital. Geeeeezzzz, don't you guys even know how to spell?!?!?! Yakitty yakitty yakitty...(VBG---IMAGBG>
There, that ought to get at least a mile of bandwidth!
Take care. Get home soon buddy, and back on-line even sooner. Need anything, just holler.
Opps....gotta run.... one of those sort of Homier travelling tool sales starts in 15 minute, about 20 minutes down the road.

Subject: YOU ARE A KEEPER! This is pretty good:
I grew up in the fifties with a practical parent --my mother, God love her, who ironed Christmas wrapping paper and reused it and who washed aluminum foil after she cooked in it, then reused it. She was the original recycle queen, before they had a name for it... It was the time for fixing things---like a curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep.
It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, reheating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant Affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more. But then my mother died, and I sat in my kitchen that Sunday afternoon reading her old handmade cookbook in a binder, I was struck with the pain of feeling all alone, learning that sometimes there isn't any"more." Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away...never to return. So...while we have it... it's best we love it....and care for it.....and fix it when it's broken.....and heal it when it's sick. This is true..... for marriage..... and old cars..... and children with bad report cards.... and dogs with bad hips..... and aging parents.....and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep. Like a best friend that moved away --or--a classmate We grew up with. There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special.....and so, we keep them close! I received this from someone who thinks I am a "keeper", so I've sent it to the people I think of in the same way. Now it's your turn to send this to those people that are "keepers" in your life
And you are one Gunner.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX >>> If some of you are wondering why there haven't been some cryptic
What worries me is that HLVH sitting up there by itself with no one to stroke it and make it feel wanted. Gunner, hurry back. Your machines miss you:-)
Seriously, though - I wish you all the best and hope to hear from you soon Marc.
Matt
||If some of you are wondering why there haven't been some cryptic ||responses from Gunner it is because he is very under the weather. He ||went into the hospital Monday morning with cardiac "discomfort" and ||will be having either a stint or an angioplasty tomorrow. He is still ||answering his cell phone but he's not online. We all wish him our ||best! Leigh@MarMachine
Good luck to you Gunner, hurry back. We're counting on your vote in November :) Texas Parts Guy
Best of luck Gunner!

I had a couple of those put in about five years ago, and it was a fascinating process. Completely conscious, and was able to watch the same screen that the surgeons were watching. Think I bored them with my questions. Could have kissed them when they were able to open the vessel they were most worried about
- the one that would have meant open heart surgery if they hadn't. Worst part was probably lying still for a few hours with a sandbag on my thigh to stop the bleeding.
Best of luck, Gunner.

Very nice Brian. I'm going to keep a copy of that and share it with my "keepers".
Lane
God speed and best of luck.
cheers T.Alan Kraus
Indeed! BTW, my eldest daughter had a stent put in last year after similar "discomfort". No problem but it does take a few weeks to get back up to speed so, Gunner, take it easy for a while.
Ted
By all means tell him that Jim said to lick whatever is ailing him and get out of the sick bay soonest! My best wishes for his rapid recovery.
Jim

Aww, just start the shaper cutting on them - or is that stroking a little hard? ;o)
Get well soon Gunner!

Wait a minute. Be careful about that. We may not know about *everything* that's ailing him, and some things, you just don't want to lick.
Ed Huntress
Wishing you a painless procedure, a speedy recovery, & all the best!

Bummer , that shoots my theory that people with a high endurance have a better blood flow. Maybe they deal with pain differently. My father-in-law is similar to Gunner , he'll mow the neighbor's lawns after his cause he just can't stop doing stuff.
He has a lap top , but they probably only allow people with a broken leg to get online. I could call him , but my phone messes up FM radios. He'll probably walk out thinking that he hasn't laid still that long in decades and give it a good test run. Watch the doctor tells him no more biscuits and gravy with Mt.Dew chasers.
My first thought - given that I'm an eternal optimist...
In the best light, I hope this thread morphs into a discussion of how gunner will pay for this operation, in light of his views on doing things the hard way... I look forward to his defense of solitarianism vs social support.
I've got a hundred bucks if it comes to pass the hat...given gladly with no strings attached. Hey, I'm Canadian, eh! Home of socialist medicine...
Brian
Get back here soon Gunner. We conservatives need to hang onto all the friends we can!
Jeff (Just a little to the right of John Wayne...)
Canadian? How much is that hundred bucks worth? :-)
Gunner, tell the Doctors to take as much care in fixing you as you do fixing machinery ! Do a 110% job just like you do. DobeDave
