Please support this effort.

Most of the funds go directly to the attorneys for the legal effort.

...as well as the vendors who have.

To better clarify that... If we meet the goal, $5,000 will also go to advertising for the hobby as a whole. While that's not much, it's a start.

The only money collected that doesn't go to either the attorneys or advertising will be that which goes to banks as exchange fees for credit card transactions.

25% of the first money and 0% of subsequent money goes to my pet project: outreach.

And thank god, given the system newbies would be forced to be exposed to, ("lone ranger" free HPR rocketry).

The legal effort, as strange as it is, is our best hope right now.

As well as changes well within the authority of TRA/NAR to make INTERNALLY right now with no delay whatsoever.

I have offered to CHAIR a committee to implement immediate highly leveraged changes to DOUBLE club membership.

I do "lone ranger" rocketry all the time. There is nothing in the "system" that prevents it.

Correct.

No internal club changes would eliminate the ATF problem, nor would it make legal shipping any easier.

Naturally. That gargantuan ego of yours wouldn't permit you to merely serve the hobby under someone else.

Kevin, Could you please provide a more detailed list of prizes? At least a total number of prizes to be awarded? I prefer a raffle where there are many prizes and many chances to win as opposed to a few "mega" prizes.

thanks, steve

If it's done the same way as the first time, they will be taking all the booty and deviding it into prize lots for tons of prise chances.

I agree, maybe I'm being petty, but I gave over half a grand last time, and got zero prizes... while several others I know of got multiple prize lots...

If you get screwed again I will donate a prize to you (or any other person of like experience).

I did a quick add last night, and we have $14,391 in prizes at the current total.

In the next week or so, I will break the prizes down into "lots". We won't draw for each individual item, but there won't be any lots with 10 items in it, either. The goal will be to be reasonable to the donors in terms of how many people to ship to, while at the same time having as many winners as possible.

How will things be grouped? I'll give an example... One donor has offered up boxes of modroc tubing, someone else has offered parachutes appropriate for that size rocket. There's a logical pairing of prizes

-- tubes to build with, and a parachute or two to use with it.

Another example would be to pair motor hardware donations with a kit that has that size motor mount.

I don't want 5 "grand winners" who walk away with more stuff than they'll use in the next 2 years. I want to see lots of people walk away with something, while at the same time (for the most part) avoiding drawing individually for each item. Some items WILL be a prize by themselves.

Hmmm. About 20% USR.

Good.

Excellent! Thanks for the reply, Kevin. That's what I was hoping for. Not just to suit me, but I think you'll draw more attention if you have the prize packages listed. Don't wanna overlook the drool factor!

Yep, and when the packages are announced, there will be an announcement.

By the way, the drool factor just went up -- we have another donor, plus Ed Miller will be building and applying one of his top-notch custom paint jobs to one of the kits being donated. A nice kit just got that much better!
