Default part color

Greetings

Any body know how to change the default part color in SW2005?When i begin a new part it should be silver in color not a horrible brown color.I have looked through all the color options in "System options", tried "Reset all to defaults".I cant find how to change this anywhere.

Thanks Alan

Change it on your template part file (?)

Big Al,

Sean is correct.

  1. Start a new part.
  2. Select the name in the feature manager and change the color.
  3. "Save as" file type "Part template"

I have a heap of different part templates for the different materials and each has a different colour, material densities, cross hatching, number of decimal places, custom properties pre-loaded, etc.

Beware of using the standard part template if you need the get the mass properties from the part/assembly - it's default density is 1000 kg/m3 (i.e the density of water), whereas steel is 7850 kg/m3.

To expand on thay even further, you can even save a standard profile as a template. Eg I have all of the BHP Australian steel profiles (compete with design table for all the sizes) saved as templates.
