A Metrolink commuter train with a consist of bi level cars struck a Jeep left on the tracks by a man who claims he wanted to commit suicide then changed his mind derailing into the path of a UP freight. At present there are 10 dead and more than 200 injured. The Glendale police have apprehended the Jeep owner and the District Attorney is considering charging him with first degree murder with special circumstances due to the numbers involved (he could also be given special circumstances as a police officer was one of the victims). The line is shut down while investigators try to gather the pieces of the trains which are scattered over a 1/2 mile area and the search for survivors and bodies continues.
