Bachmann J39 renumbering

Hi all.

I'm in the process of renumbering a Bachmann J39 for c. 1962, but though I've looked up some information on numbering, have not been able to find a suitable photo or data to support what I would like to do.

Can anyone advise me which J39s were around in 1962 with the slab sided tender, and even better, which ones of those had a late BR crest (if any).

Many thanks in advance,

Ian J.

Yeadon's, vol 11 p 53: 64795 w/straight-sided tender & late crest in May 1961. Allocated to St Margarets from March 1959 and Dunfermline from Jan 1962. Withdrawn Dec 1962.

That's the only such one in there; there's a couple with stepped-out tenders & late crests.

Thanks for that. will do 64795 as that's a pretty much perfect fit as you describe it.

Just out of interest, can you let me know what the numbers were for the J39's with stepped out tenders?

Thanks,

Ian J.

64739 (with Gorton dome cover) - Annesley engine in 1962; wdn 31/10/62. 64812 (w/overhead warning flashes) - Sunderland in 1962; wdn 3/12/62. 64795 had a circular cover for the base of the safety valves, BTW. 64739 and 64812 should have 3500 gallon tenders according to the Greenie Part 6A; 64795 should be a 4200 gallon one

And the Greenie has a shot of 64910 at York with a 4200-gallon straight-sided tender and late crest (with the coal division plate further forward and made higher, it says...). Allocated to Heaton

15/1/61; to Alnmouth 19/8/62; wdn 23/11/62.
