Bigger in area, so what? It has one tenth the population of the US (half the population of the UK), and around 90% live within 100 miles of the U.S. border.

In WWII, the other Commonwealth countries were obligated to help Britain.

One thing people forget sometimes is that China has over 1,250,000,000 population. However, India isn't that far behind and may surpass China within the next 20 years. The UK has a paltry 60,000,000.

There is a chain of stores in Canada called Dollarama in which nothing costs more than CDN$1.00. I would estimate that 95% of their inventory is sourced directly from China.

The supermarket in question pays the hourly rate as agreed nationally with the shopworkers union. Only a minority of school leavers ever goes to university. Unitl recently it was 5%.

A disproportionate number of my friends are shopkeepers. All have complained about a lack of suitable job applicants. There are situations vacant notices in almost every shop window in town. Private employment agencies are offering jobs for unskilled manual workers at rates of between £5 and £8 per hour.

The USA has protected the UK and western europe for half a century. We are morally obliged to support the lives of their troops.

About 23% of Canada's population have French as a mother tongue, compared to 59% English. 86% of French speakers reside in Quebec, which has done its darndest in the past to separate from the rest of Canada. I don't think la République française has much influence on Canadian federal politics, especially since Lester Pearson chucked out Charles de Gaulle in 1967 for proclaiming "Vive le Québec... libre".

Here in Hull I know at least a couple of honest and literate people who would die for a full-time job paying between £5 & £8 per hour.

LOL! The US are morally obliged to support lives of their troops too - by not sending them to places where they'll get shot at.

Bachmann, contingencies plans. They can't do a production plan for a few months ahead, wasn't the Hall imminent a couple of months before Christmas. I don't think they would know what a contengency plan was let alone how to do one.

Strategic obligation: That entirely depends on what Blair hoped to get out of the war.

Moral obligation: That entirely depends on your morals. Personally I think it was entirely immoral.

Yer wot?

I saw a signmaker's van recently. It claimed in large letters,

"We paint sign's to your satisfaction."

I don't think so. :-)
