Info about new Trumpeter 1/32 P-38 needed

Speaking of the new Trumpeter P-38; has anyone else noticed the shape of the props look a bit funny; a bit too skinny and pointed.

I saw someone else post something about the props a couple weeks ago but haven't heard any other comments about them. Do they look "odd" to anyone else?

try from TW or China, i get mine from there, seem to be much much cheaper cost of kit, seems teh 24th Spit/ME1109's are 25$US surface to UK

That was me - yes, they look like some of the cuffed props I've seen for P-47's, or one of the off-type P-51 variants.

They may be totally appropriate for the plane depicted - and L vice a J...but I would like to have an option here.

And that gun set from Aries...are those replacement .30's for the P-38? Seems like the right number of them...

If they are .30's someone has screwed up. The standard P-38 armament was 4 X .50 Cal. Brownings and a 20 mm. cannon. Only P-38 variant to have .30s was the P-38D.

Hmmnnn...the April Squardon flyer lists a set of Browning M1 .303's - 4 to a box. What could those be for?

I'll be looking for a set of .50's, then...the set in the Trumpeter kit leave a bit to be desired.

You could buy two sets and use them for a Spitfire Ia-IIa or Hurricane Ia-IIa. You could also use them for the outer guns on b- and c-winged V-IXs. You could use two of them for the nose guns on a Kittyhawk. There are probably other planes that the Brits used them in, but those are the ones that come immediately to mind.

If the number is zero then its right! The P-38 had four .50 cal Brownings and a 20mm in centre.

Could be for noseguns on several older us planes, or rear armament on TBM/TBM and SBD's, or for just one wing on a Spitfire or Hurricane, as the early marks of those planes had eight .303's

Actually, they are perfect for the 4 WING guns of a Kittyhawk-the nose guns were .50s.

Hmmmmmmm...

ISTR reading somewhere that the British planes had .50s in the wings and .303s (which, other than caliber, were structurally identical to American .30s) in the nose -- but my memory *could* indeed be wrong...

Anybody out there know definitively?

Curtiss P-40B/C/Tomahawk II had 2 X .50 Cal Brownings in the upper fuselage decking synchronised to fire through the propeller arc and 4 X .30/303 cal. Brownings, 2 per wing.
