Bachy Fairburns are go!

Nah, they're obsessed with the Southern, and will probably announced something which will sell only south of the Thames, possibly an emu to compete with Bachmann's planned 4-CEP.

Anyway they've not produced a 'totally new' diesel this year, so maybe one will top their lists for 2007? A 56 or a 58 would be really nice, or (if they want to put a smile on my face) how about a 'Clayton'?

And wasn't the Patriot an accountant's rebuild - i.e. it was a rebuild in name only to suit their balance sheet. IIRC, the wheels were about the only bit from the original locos which were used :-)

I think only the first two Patriots were notional rebuilds of the Claughtons and used the wheels from the earlier locos (distinguishable by their large centre bosses), the remainder were totally new locos.

You don't know the half of it! :-D

Now, yassee... that picture shows *exactly* why we need an RTR Claughton. They're just so elegant!

How strange then that one of the best Southern layouts on the circuit comes from that well known south of the Thames resort of . . . . . . . . . Hull ;-) Incidentally weren't quite a number of the Fairburns built at Brighton and ran South of the Thames till replaced by standard 4 tanks? (including both the preserved ones at Lakeside & Haverthwaite). So it looks like Bachmann as well as Hornby are doing their bit for Southern modellers.

There was a very nice almost complete/unpainted brass whitemetal model for sale at Loughborough a few weeks back. It did look nice. But he wanted £280 for it, wasnt sure if it was a fair price or how well built it was. However theres no way i could do a paint job that it deserved.

On the other hand John a Swedish winter beats a Yorkshire one :) I found out why they wear long johns (any relation?)as when it gets right chilly the hairs on ones legs freeze to onew trousers leaving one with hairy trousery rather than hairy legs, a nutural full brazilian if you are not careful and with every step you can hear the foreigners as their hair gets pulled out by the roots and each step is followd by a scream...... long walks for long johns and short walks for bald johns..... :)))) Beowulf

And a central Canadian winter beats both of them. Sadly.
